BSN, FDN, Former RN
Deep Nourishment Practitioner

Melissa is a devoted Christian, a loving wife, and the proud mother of twin boys and one laid-back pup. A Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner and Deep Nourishment Practitioner at Soil to Soul Nutrition, she brings over 25 years of nursing experience to her work, with a background in pediatric oncology and pediatric and adult hospice at some of the nation's leading hospitals. Her passion for oncology took root in her very first nursing role, where the connections she built with families left a lasting mark.
That clinical foundation eventually became the source of her deepest frustration.
Over time, Melissa watched the healthcare system fall short in ways she could not ignore. When former pediatric patients began returning as adults facing secondary cancers, the pattern was impossible to dismiss. The system was skilled at managing what was present. It was not asking why. That gap - between symptom management and root-cause understanding - is what pushed her out of conventional nursing and into a different kind of work entirely.
At Soil to Soul, Melissa's role is to help clients identify where allostatic load is concentrated across the terrain and which domains may be placing the greatest strain on the body's systems. The work belongs to the client. Melissa provides the education, the framework, and the support. Clients do the work, and the body responds.
Her focus spans the full terrain - including immune capacity, toxic burden, nervous system regulation, blood sugar balance, and psychosocial optimization. Her hospice background gives her a particular steadiness with clients navigating serious or advanced illness - she is not rattled by complexity, and she does not flinch from hard conversations.
She is a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner, trained in metabolic approaches to cancer care, and grounded in over two decades of direct clinical experience.
Melissa works with clients who are done being managed and ready to understand what is actually driving their symptoms. If you have been through the system and come out the other side with more questions than answers, her background may be exactly what you need.
This is not medical care. Melissa works collaboratively with your medical team and does not diagnose, prescribe, or direct clinical decisions. Her role is education, whole-terrain assessment, and coaching support, so you can do your own work with greater clarity and confidence.
