You definitely want to know about the best non-toxic sunscreens for your face. Protecting your facial skin from the sun’s UV rays should be at the top of your list of summer self-care practices. Overexposure to the sun can leave your face looking wrinkled and weathered, over time. It also puts you at higher risk for skin cancer. The only facial SPF that should be in your beach bag is one with healthy ingredients.

Most dermatologists and the Environmental Working Group (EWG) recommend using facial sunscreens that are mineral-based as these formulas deflect UV rays away from the skin rather than absorbing the radiation into the body like chemical sunscreens tend to do.

I admit I was shocked when I discovered that the very substance I was slathering on my face to prevent skin damage was known to cause skin damage and health issues. So, I kind of made it my mission to seek out the very best non-toxic sunscreens for your face that I could find.

Natural sunscreens are great for the body, but sometimes we need an SPF that is specifically formulated for the face as to not clog up pores and whatnot. Our facial skin differs from the rest of our body as it is thinner in some places and much more sensitive.

It’s imperative to don an SPF cream on the face every day, no matter the season. Too much UV exposure will leave your smooth mug looking discolored and inflamed. Nobody wants to deal with unsightly sunspots or worse yet, facial melanomas. Not. Fun.

Here are five of the best non-toxic sunscreens for your face.

Badger – Rose Organic Sunscreen for Face SPF 25

This is the perfect broad-spectrum SPF to be rubbing on your pretty little face. Badger sunscreen is formulated just like a facial moisturizer and works amazingly well under your makeup. It’s safe and effective and can be worn every day. You’ll love how easily this sunscreen rubs in, and it never leaves any traces of white residue behind. It’s chock-full of nourishing skin food that won’t clog your pores.

    What’s in it…

All ingredients in this product are non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic. It contains calendula oil, sunflower oil, rosehip fruits, and rose oil. Each tube is formulated with 14% non-Nano zinc oxide. The oils in this sunscreen are perfect for acne-prone skin.

Kypris – Pot of Shade Organic Sunscreen SPF 30

So, I ain’t gonna lie, this particular facial sunscreen is pretty pricey. However, you only need a pea-sized amount to cover your entire face, effectively. I guess you could say that a little goes a long way. You can easily get 3 to 6 months of use out of a single pot. The initial investment might be steep, but over time, you are actually saving money.

OK, now that we got that riff-raff out of the way, this facial sunscreen is pretty darn epic. It’s a non-greasy formula and feels light and smooth on your face. It goes on white and turns 100% translucent. No one will ever know you’re wearing it. My favorite part of this sunscreen is how quickly it absorbs into the skin.

    What’s in it…

This lovely facial sunscreen contains organic, wildcrafted ingredients. 20% Non-Nano zinc oxide, sweet iris stem cells (Enhances the skin’s youthful appearance.), tamanu, chaparral, sunflower, probiotics, and sea algae.

Josh Rosebrook – Nutrient Day Cream Organic Sunscreen SPF 30

This is a wonderful sunscreen that contains broad-spectrum SPF ingredients that are powerful and effective against UV rays. Not only does this day cream ward off the sun from harming your skin but it’s also packed with nourishing ingredients that have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

You’ll love how this cream reduces the appearance of redness and uneven skin tone. It works wonders when used under your makeup.

    What’s in it…

Made with 12% non-Nano zinc oxide, borage seed oil, sage, linden, nettle, chamomile, burdock, bilberry, and sea buckthorn to keep skin free from sunburn and looking moisturized.

Kari Gran – Three Sixty Five SPF 28 Sunscreen

When it comes to sunblock for the face, Kari Gran – Three Sixty Five is simply luxurious. Many people describe it as more of a facial moisturizing cream than a sunscreen. It’s made with a plethora of organic, natural ingredients that soothe and relax the skin while protecting it from the powerful rays of the sun.

One of the best things about this product is that it can be mixed with your liquid foundation and applied simultaneously. It saves you a step in your morning beauty routine. Nice!

    What’s in it…

This sunscreen is rich in skin-loving ingredients like avocado oil, beeswax, jojoba oil, macadamia nut seed oil, plum seed oil, red raspberry seed oil, and 17% non-Nano zinc oxide.

Raw Elements – Tinted Certified Natural SPF 30 Sunscreen

This is probably one of my favorite facial sunscreens on this list. When I’m hitting the beach or pool, I don’t like to wear a lot of makeup. Raw Elements contains a hint of tint from black tea and coffee beans. How cool is that? No pasty white streaks on your face, either! You can totally protect your skin from harmful UV rays and look great while doing it with this product.

You’ll also enjoy the rich texture of Raw Elements sunscreen and yummy skin-loving ingredients that smell heavenly.

    What’s in it…

Made with 23% non-Nano zinc oxide, green tea, black tea, coffee beans, hemp seed oil, and sunflower oil.

Using One of The Best Non-Toxic Sunscreens for Your Face Daily All-Year-Round is the Way to Go

Be kind to yourself and treat your skin to one of these fabulous non-toxic sunscreens for the face. You only get one face so taking care of it is pretty important. Each of these sunscreens contains ingredients of integrity. Most are organic and all are chemical-free. No hormone, endocrine, or reproductive disruptors to be found! It’s hard to find great sunscreens that are all-natural and safe, especially when you shop for them at big box stores or pharmacies.  I hope this list helps you find the perfect sunscreen for your gorgeous little face. Enjoy!
