Amy Cleared Her Chronic Yeast Infection!

Published: Jan 22, 2020 · Modified: Aug 11, 2022 by Heather Cooan, MBA, NTP, FDN-P, ONC · This post may contain affiliate links.

Amy was able to find relief from a very persistent and wide-spread chronic yeast infection and avoid additional prescription medication!

Amy Cleared Candida Oral, Anal, Vaginal

Amy's Main Complaint - Chronic Yeast Infection

Amy came to me with a very persistent candida infection (thrush, yeast infection). She had recently undergone surgery and a round of powerful antibiotics. Amy was suffering orally, vaginally, and anally and was looking for a more natural way of clearing the infection to avoid further damage to her microbiome. She didn't want to take the commonly prescribed antifungals to clear the infection and risk causing a lichen sclerosus flare.

    Our Approach

The most powerful and effective natural antibiotic and anti-fungal is oil of oregano. Oil of oregano made from the wild oregano, origanum vulgare, contains two potent antifungals: thymol and carvacrol.

Other studies report that each of oregano extract’s major components has potent antifungal activity. This includes terpenoid phenols carvacrol, thymol, and eugenol. These incredible terpenoid phenols are effective in not only killing planktonic cells but also the biofilms of Candida albicans that are resistant to many pharmaceutical antifungal drugs. Of these, carvacrol appears to be the strongest; studies show it continues to be effective regardless of the maturity of the biofilm.

Oil of oregano's ability to not just clear the infection, but also the biofilm is why I reach for it in cases of candida overgrowth. Once the candida has created a biofilm, it can hide from prescription antifungal medication and the client will likely suffer repeated infections. The brand I recommend is Gaia Herbs, which is widely available and good quality.

Note: Essential oils should be mixed with carrier oils before use and never applied directly to the skin. People can mix 3-5 drops of oil of oregano essential oil in 1 ounce of sweet almond oil, warmed coconut oil, or olive oil. A tampon should be soaked in this mixture for a few minutes, then insert and change every 2-4 hours during the day. People should not leave a medicated tampon in for more than 6 hours. It is a good idea to test for allergies to oil of oregano on the forearm before use.

Since Amy's infection seemed to be systemic, she took oil of oregano orally to get to the root of the infection. I also advised her to cut all sugar and starch from her diet to starve the candida. After four days of the supplementation, her infection cleared up!

Facebook Post Amy Cleared Candida Oral, Anal, Vaginal

I was so uncomfortable that I was getting desperate to stop the yeast infection and nothing seemed to help. Heather's suggestion stopped the candida in its tracks and after only four days I saw a major difference. I'm so grateful for Heather's help!
