Michelle reached out to me after hearing about my story on Facebook, she had many of the same symptoms I described and after a visit to her gynecologist found herself with the same diagnosis of lichen sclerosus. She was determined to put lichen sclerosus into remission and she did!
Michelle's Main Complaint
Lichen sclerosus is the worst and Michelle was dealing with that intense vulvar itch that never goes away no matter what you do.
Our Approach
Michelle's case was mild and once properly diagnosed, she did respond to topical steroids. Michelle knew simply applying a band aid wasn't the best long-term solution for her and she wanted to find a way to address her root cause contributors. Michelle put lichen sclerosus into remission by figuring out what the correct diet was for her.
With such a mild case, we simply cleaned up her diet and added gut support. We cut out all grains and processed food and leaned heavily on phytonutrients from fresh organic produce to replenish her system and improve her immune function. Michelle also decided to remove red meat, pork, and dairy from her diet. She ate a lot of eggs, fish, and poultry.
To support her gut, we added amino acids and a probiotic. We also added fish oil for improved fatty acid balance and to replenish fat soluble vitamins that are crucial for immune function.
Michelle's Outcome
I have been suffering for a long time and had no idea what was going on. When I saw Heather's story on Facebook, I realized I might have lichen sclerosus. I had so many of the same symptoms that Heather described. I was inspired to seek out a physician who actually new what LS was and have them take a look. Sure enough, I was diagnosed with LS.
I was prescribed steroid cream to get it under control at first, but what really cleared it was an overhaul of my nutrition. They gave me non-steroid cream to use after the main steroid cream to maintain, but I never used it.
I went strictly gluten and wheat free. Cut out all red meat, pork, and processed foods. I started a plant-forward, lean protein (chicken and fish) diet. I eat a lot of fresh fruits and veggies and I also limit grains.
To heal my gut, I added amino acids, fish oil, and a probiotic. I also take an over-the-counter anti-viral for immune support.
I'm forever grateful that I was able to put lichen sclerosus into remission and live a normal life!
