    Lori Reversed Type II Diabetes!

Lori G. Reversed Diabetes Before and After

Lori reversed type II diabetes! Lori knew she wasn't caring for herself or her health the best she could, but she really got a wake-up call when she was diagnosed with type II diabetes. Lori knew she had to make changes and she began her journey toward change and self-care.

Lori lost 80lbs and reversed type II diabetes.

    Lori's Main Health Complaint

Lori's main health complaint was her type II diabetic status. Lori was just three years into a new marriage and had new grand children. She wanted to be able to be more active with her grand children and have the energy to adventure with her husband. She wanted to live life to the fullest and to do that she needed to get her diabetes under control and improve her energy and mobility.

    Our Approach

Lori is a self-proclaimed carb addict. Not so much with the sugar, although she was never one to refuse dessert, it was really the savory carbs that caught her fancy...bread and potatoes.

So our approach was centered around cutting back on the sugar and starch in Lori's life. We took a gentle approach and slowly swapped out high carbohydrate foods for lower carb choices. Lori started by ordering a side salad instead of french fries, removed the top half of the bun from her burgers and sandwiches, and started drinking water only.

She began to lose weight, her blood sugar started to regulate, and her insulin resistance started to heal. Lori paid close attention to her numbers and how she felt. She worked very closely with her nurse practitioner to titrate down her medication and was eventually able to stop taking it altogether.

Lori has lost 50 lbs since her diagnosis (80 lbs total), her A1C is now within the normal range, she is off of all of her medication, and she feels better than ever with plenty of energy to really live and enjoy life. Lori successfully reversed type II diabetes!

    Lori's Review

I knew I was a ticking time bomb the way I was going, but when I was told that I was diabetic, I really knew I had to get it together. It was helpful to have an example of someone who was able to do the work to heal themselves with diet and lifestyle change. It made it a lot easier to say no to that bread.

As I started to feel better and my clothes got looser things got easier and pretty soon I wasn't missing those carbs and it was just normal to eat healthier and skip the pasta, bread, and dessert. I've really come a long way!
