Everyone needs a badass marinara sauce recipe in their recipe box. I'm not about the 'sauce' or 'gravy' that takes hours and hours to simmer to perfection. I'm all about that simple sauce life and this recipe is just that. Super easy and quick!
You can absolutely stew fresh tomatoes, skin and seed them, and cook them down into a tomato sauce if you'd like. But I just get the storebought stuff. The best brand of canned tomato products is Muir Glen.
Muir Glen is an organic brand and their ingredients are super clean: Organic Tomato Puree (water, organic tomato paste), Sea Salt, Organic Onion Powder, Citric Acid, Organic Garlic Powder. There's nothing weird in here.
I also love that they are all about bees and farmers. They've partnered with the Xerces Society to plant pollinator habitats on the California farms that grow their tomatoes. They also work hard to really partner with farmers instead of taking advantage of them as many corporations do. I love what they stand for.
I love to spoon this marinara sauce over roasted veggies. It's surprisingly great over roasted broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and onions. Of course, it works just like any other marinara sauce for regular pasta dishes using whatever noodle you prefer. You can also just dip pork rinds or leftover meat scraps into it for a super satisfying snack.
Let me know what you think and I'd love to know what you serve it over.
