I had the pleasure of sitting down with Julie Michelson over at Inspired Living with Autoimmunity. Julie is passionate about helping people understand the root causes of autoimmune disease and chronic illness, and she invited me to share my journey and dive deep into the connection between autoimmunity and cancer.

We chatted about how I went from corporate burnout to a vulvar cancer diagnosis, why I chose the metabolic approach over conventional treatment, and how our life experiences (our biography) directly influence our health (our biology).

  • In this powerful episode, we explored:
  • The hidden connection between autoimmunity and cancer - and why addressing metabolic dysfunction is critical for both
  • How chronic stress, poor sleep, and blood sugar dysregulation cascade through every hormone system in your body
  • Why up to 94% of people have some form of metabolic dysfunction - and what you can actually do about it
  • The role of minerals in cellular energy and why food sourcing matters more than you think
  • Why reconnecting with your body and learning to feel emotions physically is essential for healing
  • The power of taking a detailed life chronology to identify root causes and patterns
  • How to start healing when you're exhausted and overwhelmed - finding the smallest thread to pull

I also shared the question my oncologist couldn't answer, the decision that terrified me most, and how I learned that "your biography influences your biology"-understanding that the water feeding your soil is just as important as the soil itself.

This conversation gets real about the mind-body connection, trauma, and what it truly takes to heal from chronic illness.
