Radical Remission Podcast - Heather Cooan

I had the absolute honor of sitting down with Karla Mans-Giroux, co-director of the Radical Remission Project, on the Radical Remission podcast to chat about how I approach personalized oncology nutrition support with my clients.

I've been a massive fan of The Radical Remission Project ever since I read Kelly Turner's first book, Radical Remission: Surviving Cancer Against All Odds, when I was diagnosed in 2017. She has since published the sequel, Radical Hope: 10 Key Healing Factors from Exceptional Survivors of Cancer and Other Diseases. Both books are excellent, and I highly recommend them to my clients.

The Radical Remission Project

The Radical Remission Project is a global initiative focused on studying and sharing stories of unexpected cancer recoveries. It was inspired by the work of Dr. Kelly Turner, who conducted extensive research into "radical remissions"-cases where patients recover from cancer despite a lack of conventional medical treatment or when traditional treatments have failed. These remissions have typically occurred against significant odds, often defying medical expectations. You can learn more about this on the Radical Remission podcast.

Dr. Turner identified nine key factors that many people with radical remission stories seem to share, which include lifestyle changes like diet and exercise, as well as mental, emotional, and spiritual practices such as cultivating a positive outlook, embracing a solid social support system, and connecting deeply with a sense of purpose or spirituality. The project explores these factors in depth through books, workshops, and a documentary film to help people incorporate these practices into their lives as complementary approaches to traditional cancer treatments. Additionally, the new radical remission podcast covers these factors extensively.

Through storytelling, education, and community building, the Radical Remission Project aims to inspire and empower individuals affected by cancer and other chronic illnesses, offering hope and practical tools to support their healing journey. The project underscores human resilience and healing potential through holistic health approaches and a supportive, empowered mindset.
